The People and Culture department manages all Mercy Corps People functions, including compensation and benefits, training and development, employee relations and wellness, recruitment, selection and orientation, talent management, People and Culture dept. risk and audit and a custodian of the agency culture, ensuring the agency aligns with, reflects and maintains our agency culture.
General Position Summary
Provide oversight to the management of the People and Culture department for Mercy Corps programming in Uganda in the achievement of MC program objectives and in alignment with all People functions and Development. The People & Culture Manager is required to effectively build the people and culture capability of the organization; lead and manage an effective People & Cultures function to support the management of the employee lifecycle, and contribute to broader organizational and strategic management as part of the Mercy Corps Uganda Leadership Team. The position also has a key role as ambassador for organizational culture and values, ensuring they are visible, embedded, and upheld.

Required Languages: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
All People and Culture Officers (5) and People and Culture Coordinator (1)
Reports Directly To: Country Director
Dotted reporting line To: Director of People and Culture, MCU
Works Directly With Country Director, People and Culture Officers, Program Managers; Program Teams – all field offices; the Country Operations and the Finance teams.

Masters or better.
7 years: Experience with office administration, people operations, and management.
